RHS Show of Bands Saturday; Murray State Racer Band to perform

By: Vanessa Priddy
The RHS Band Boosters will be hosting the 31st RHS Show of Bands “Music under the Stars” at Rhea Stadium this Saturday evening, Sept. 18, beginning at 5 p.m. Murray State University Racer Band, one of the top college bands in the Southeast, will be performing in exhibition.
The RHS Band Boosters are excited in having over 1,050 musicians in Rhea Stadium. All local area bands, including Logan County Marching Cougars, Todd Central Rebels, Butler County and Franklin-Simpson, will be part of the 14 bands performing in competition. RHS Marching Panthers’ senior recognition, Racer Band and awards ceremony will conclude the evening.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all of the area citizens in their continuous support for events that are held at Rhea Stadium. The RHS Band Boosters want to give a special thank you to the citizens who live in the several city blocks surrounding Rhea Stadium. This historical stadium offers many musicians a performance venue unlike any other stadium in the state of Kentucky. Handicap parking along with a drop-off area on the Ninth Street entrance will be offered this year.
The RHS Band Boosters will have great food, including grilled pork chop and rib eye sandwiches. The admission is $5 per person with children five and under free.
All RHS Band Booster Alumni and RHS Marching Panthers alumni are invited to attend and be part of the “Band Box”. We are expecting a large crowd and many of our alumni friends.
We hope you will come and be part of this very special evening of honoring the past and encouraging the future musicians.
